Why was the title such a secret? It is only five words—yet they have an awesome power—they are instantly magnetic. Those five words will be misunderstood by many; they could have two very different meanings. They also tell the entire story. Very few book titles do that. I chose to keep them hidden, not because of some marketing trick, but because the instant you know them...you will know if you hate this book, or have to read it. Some people will refuse to know it only because of those five little words.

For my entire life books have been treasures to me. Some in my collection were written before George Washington, or Thomas Jefferson were born. They were old before we were a nation. They were written when books were precious - and pure.

Today we can hold any text we desire. Yet I am drawn to hard, aged covers, which hint nothing of the contents. Their outward power is not diminished by the lack of title, or illustration. They are not lessened by the absence of design. Their voices never silenced by mere age.

I want to create such a thing. A book which says, "I'm merely a book; open me." No thousands will be printed, no scores of them sold. A hundred copies will be sufficient to wrap my name, and thus my soul within. In a hundred years, some of them will still speak for me, and I will not be dead.
